South Sierra Wilderness

“When I was a young girl, I was herding sheep. . .”

…and that’s the reason why I didn’t go to school — I only went to beginner. I always wanted to go to school, but my mother used to tell me that there was nobody to herd and tend to the sheep. So I stayed home. My mother taught me how to weave when I was young, and we used to weave under the oak tree. My first weaving is as a young girl; I wove a Navajo rug. I took it to Pine Spring Trading Post and got fifty dollars for it.”
